Breaking News: Socked by Snow

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Is it me, or has CNN gotten really weird? It’s on the basement TV at school right now, and I’m struck by how informal it’s become since the last time I watched a 24-hour TV news network who-knows-when.

First there was a guy talking about the blizzard in the Northeast. He mentioned the rain in Southern California for a few sentences, then summed it up with “so the whole country is experiencing this.” Right. Okay, so that part wasn’t particularly informal, it just annoyed me.

Then the same guy and another CNN anchor (do they still call them that?), apparently in another studio, had a gripe session between themselves about how dumb the word “bipartisanship” is. Guess what guess what? NBC, Lifetime and the [producers? owners?] of Project Runway have FINALLY settled their lawsuit (in NBC’s favor), and Season 6 will air on Lifetime this summer!

Not much else to say, except that I can. not. wait.

Vacation

I’ve been up at College Station this whole week. John has an old Xbox (kindly donated by my brother) that he’s turned into a media center, so I’ve been couch-potatoing around the whole time, properly enjoying my winter break.

John played and beat Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and I introduced him to the original Rollercoaster Tycoon, an old PC game that I loved as a kid. Man, what a great game.

You know what else is great? Project Runway. We’re halfway through Season 3 on DVD right now—it’s the only one I haven’t seen all the way through. Amazing show. John even likes it way more than he ever thought he would. Love it love it love it.
