You Look Nice Today
So I’ve been in law school for a week, and I bet you’re ready to hear all about it, right? Ha!
So far I’ve been a strict compartmentalizer. There is school, which happens in and around the law building from 8:30 to 6:00 four days a week (and 9:30 to noon on Fridays), there is not-school, which happens at other places during other times, and never the twain shall meet. The only not-school things I do during the school day are occasionally check email and answer important calls, and when I go home, I leave all my books in my carrel.
It’s then something of an open question which category blogging about law school falls into. Okay, so maybe it’s pretty obvious that telling the internet *about* school doesn’t help me *do* school one bit, but maybe I’m looking for an excuse not to recount my first week in detail tonight, mkay?
What I’m trying to say, not at all concisely, is that when I’m at home, I want to put my feet up, snuggle with my dog, and melt into the internet for a while. Maybe organize my earrings or clear some clutter, if I have any extra energy to burn.
And that’s why, instead of entertaining you with stories of endless reading and intense Socratic questioning, I’m here to bury the lede recommend a most excellent podcast. It’s called You Look Nice Today, and it’s effing hilarious. It’s three guys, and they talk, and . . . there’s no point in my describing it, just go listen.
One of them is the brilliant Merlin Mann, if that helps. It helped me, anyway—I heart me some Merlin.
They haven’t posted anything since the end of July, which is about when I started listening, so I’ve been through the entire catalogue at least three times. They said they’d be back this Tuesday, which is just in time—things are starting to get pretty desperate around here. I have to listen to SOMETHING while I zone out on various solitaire games, and YLNT has spoiled me for any other podcast.
If you’re looking for a place to start, their live show is my favorite. You’re welcome.
